Ashish Lal: Ashish Lal a.k.a. Lal is a B.Tech. from IIT Delhi. Since 2001, he has been associated with theatre acting and directing in various Hindi, English and Street Plays across different genres. Ashish has also acted in several ads, short films and also a feature film made by IIT-IIM guys - Formula69. He has been working on his acting skills almost daily for hours throughout this year to be perfect in the Lead Role of the first RedMat's full fledged Bollywood film. He has won the prestigious “Best Director of IIT Delhi” award and hence understand the director's angle very minutely. Ashish has played several percussion instruments, from tabla to drums, in scores of music competitions. Yoga and meditation also plays a vital role in his life. Despite having tremendous passion for art, Lal has worked in the corporate world for 4 years in a completely different domain – Business Analytics and Research – which helped him a lot in understanding how research could help RedMat and its clients. Ashutosh Matela: Ashutosh alias Matty is also a B.Tech. from IIT Delhi. It has been more than 8 years of his passionate involvement in direction, dance, choreography, singing, playing guitar and acting. You name an award given for extraordinary contribution to cultural activities at IIT Delhi and Matty has it in his huge awards kit! You can judge his passion for these by knowing the fact that he was amongst the 1% IITians who, just after passing out, went for their dreams rather than for high paid jobs. Since then, Ashutosh has represented India as a part of Special Potential Batch of SDIPA in Commonwealth Games, Australia 2006, has done a professional course in Film Direction & Editing from Vikshi Institute of Media Studies Pune, has acted in several plays of Song & Drama Division (Govt. of India), has directed street plays for WWF and so on and so forth. However, the most beautiful and boasting feather in his cap was being the Assistant Director of a commercial Bollywood movie "Jugaad" starring the veteran, Manoj Bajpai! After directing scores of ads, short films, documentary films, short films, corporate videos (20seconds ad to 1hour film), Ashutosh is all set to use his expertise in making a series of short films for international film festivals!
Deepti Mehra: Deepti, also known as Mini, is a topper in Master of Business Administration (HR and Marketing). She’s been associated with the corporate culture as HR Executive. She has her niche in recruitment process and administration. Her skills help RedMat in developing and managing a strong team. A people-person at heart, Mini loves meeting people, travelling, watching movies, shopping and playing with kids. Her artistic side is displayed by her love for writing poems.
Sarika Lal: Sarika, a topper in Master of Science (Life Sciences) and a certified Nutritionist, is a singer of incredible talent. She has mastery over Indian Semi-Classical. She has been a radio singer as well as won, since childhood, lot of accolades including Kalashree Upaadhi by District Magistrate. Presently she is getting trained from a famous Guru to lend her voice for our film. Dhyaan and Yoga form an inherent part of her life and so does writing poems.
CORE TEAM
Nikhil Singh: Apart from the Directors, the most enthusiastic person in the core team of RedMat is Nikhil Singh. Nikhil, after completing his B.Tech. from IIT Delhi, began working as a Business Analyst; however, it soon dawned upon him that his passion lies in Film Making. Hence, he quit his job and got the first break as Assistant Director of the Bollywood movie Jugaad. Nikhil has acted in and directed several plays as well as won a lot of laurelses in the world of theatre.
In October '09, Nikhil completed his film direction course from one of the best film making university in the world, USC - University of Southern California, USA. He was among few students selected for a course with USC funded by Universal Studios, where he shot a short film in the studio lot. Nikhil Singh is all set to direct the first mainstream Bollywood venture of RedMat - Time Nahin Hai - from early 2010!
In short, the core team consists of highly talented and experienced people in creative as well as technical aspects of production. Moreover, RedMat has people who are skilled in one or more of the various stages of a project - development, pre-production, production, post-production and distribution. This talent pool comes from people associated with IIT Delhi Film Series Committee and Dance & Dramatics Club, Song & Drama Division (Information and Broadcasting Ministry), National Institute of Fashion Technology, Doordarshan, NDTV, Times of India etc.
